Heshi is the god of the (Souls of the dead)[The%20Afterlife]. He gathers and protects those spirits who are lost or confused, but does not provide them undue help in the journey upriver. Once they arrive at the Court of the Gods, Heshi becomes their early liaison in their new life. It is known that Heshi was one of the early chiefs who fought alongside Aiokkais in the war against Osaeuais, and that his elevation to godhood came as a result of his survival in this war.
Heshi is a deity primarily associated with The Riverine Culture, from whom both the Wajahe and Ejee are believed to have derived their versions of the deity.
